The throat of Kola is one of the main natural curiosities of the region of the North. Even if the term of throat seems a little usurped, the fact remains that this rocky passage 700 meters long on 200 meters wide in which sneaks Mayonnaise remains a rare entertainment of which it is necessary to take advantage by going from Garoua to Maroua. Young guides propose their services for the visit. The descent in the throats is made in rock-climbing, which allows traveling about fifty meters at the bottom of the fault. Certain rocks are magnificently worked by waters. In the highest, throats amount to about fifteen meters. To see also on a parallel arm the apartments of the devil, a lounge and a room which is in fact internal caves modeled by the current in the rainy season.
To go there: from Garoua, take N1 towards Figuil. The road, recently done up like new, is very rolling. Arrived at Sorawel, 15 km before Figuil, to take the direction of Guider on 15 km. You arrive then on a crossroads at the said place Ouro Aladji with a tree where 2 steles indicate the direction of the throat. Take the only runway on 5,2 km. It is necessary to count approximately 1:30 am of the road since Garoua.

Situated in the North Region of Cameroon, in the village of Kola, it’s the “Gorge de Kola”, commonly called by visitors the small canyon, with rocks carved by water flow especially during the rainy season and is about 22m deep. Its beauty could not be ignored by our group, as our car turned on the road N1 to its direction.
The journey was about 5.2km of un-tarred road to reach Kola village from Guider of the Mayo Louti Division. Under the scorching sun, with the sand as hot as coal in fire ready to steam the engine of the locomotive, we marched like soldiers into this site, observing a large variety of birds, but then the vulture captured my attention, it was my first time of seeing it, not the images in the movies.
We got into the gorge and walked around it enjoying every moment of our view and touch of the rocky walls together with the hot sand beneath our feet. It was a great moment we spent there, a time well spent…
Cameroon, in the Northern Province, a hundred kilometers from Garoua, 12km from the city of Guider (known because of its cultural and tourism festival held in December), is a mystery at the same time gift of nature: Gorges of Kola.
Covering an area of over 3 acres with thousands of tons of rock out of sight, with multiple colors and impressive gorges Kola represent a range of carved stones, carved and shaped like works of art and some models reach 20 m depth.
